Si sono svolti ieri sera (nella notte in Italia) a Los Angeles gli MTV Video Music Awards edizione 2011. Due le donne trionfatrici della serata: Katy Perry che si e’ aggiudicata 3 award tra cui il premio piu’ ambito per Video dell’anno con “Fireworks” e Adele, debuttante ai VMAs, anche lei con tre statuette mentre due premi sono stati assegnati a Lady Gaga.
Strepitose le performance live sul palco del Nokia Theatre tra cui una Lady Gaga nel suo alter ego Jo Calderone con il brano “You and I”. Il momento live piu’ esplosivo ha visto come protagonisti Kanye West e Jay-Z con il debutto televisivo del loro brano “Otis”.
Lady Gaga alias Jo Calderone e’ poi tornata sul palco per presentare e rendere tributo a Britney Spears assegnandole il premio “the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award”. Insieme hanno poi introdotto Beyonce’ che, prima di iniziare ad esibirsi in “Love on Top”, ha confermato e condiviso con il pubblico mondiale di Mtv la felice notizia della sua gravidanza davanti ad un emozionato Jay-Z in platea.
Uno dei momenti piu’ emozionanti della serata e’ sicuramente stato il tributo ad Amy Winehouse da parte del leggendario Tony Bennett introdotto a sorpresa da Russell Brand. Bennett ha mostrato le immagini inedite dell’ultima performance di Amy Winehouse durante la registrazione del loro duetto per “Body and Soul”. Il tributo ha visto poi l’esibizione di Bruno Mars nella celebre hit di Amy “Valerie.”
